Ons ken almal iemand wie se lewe op die een of ander wyse deur kanker geraak is/word. KANSA bied jaarliks 'n "Relay for Life" aan (sien meer besonderhede hieronder). Volgende jaar (2012) se "relay" vind op 17 Maart plaas en ons wil JOU baie graag uitnooi om deel te wees van ons span om hierdie wonderlike geleentheid te ondersteun!!
RELAY FOR LIFE Bloemfontein 17 MARCH 2012 FREE STATE ATHELTICS STADIUM
The Relay will be 17 March 2012 –Saturday evening to Sunday morning. A team consist of 8 – 15 members with a team captain. Teams are given a designated area where they can camp for the night. You may brand our camp site and bring along a gazebo, sleeping bags, camping chairs etc. You can choose a team name and dress according to a theme as well. Each team must have a positive cancer message and this must be visible at your camp. Registration fee is R600.00 and teams are asked to do fund raising as well. We have given teams targets of R5000.00 or more. Fund raising must start as soon as possible so that you don’t have to worry too much weeks before the Relay. On the night of the Relay each team must have a stall where you can sell food / beverages or anything else, this is to keep teams sustained and active during the Relay. The funds made here are the cherry on top. It is important to confirm your stall in advance so the we don’t have duplicating teams. If you sell anything, you first cover your costs and then the rest gets donated to CANSA. We have prizes for the team with the most spirit, best slogan and the team that generates the most funds. When you register you receive 10 luminaria bags that you can hand out to family or friends that lost someone to cancer or have a family member undergoing treatment, they decorate the bag with their loved one’s name and the bags must be back at CANSA by February 2012. These bags will have a candle that is lit during the luminaria ceremony and light the track. The programme is as follows: 16H00: Team arrival and set up 18H00: Opening Ceremony – short welcome to all and our survivors Survivor’s lap Care givers lap Teams are introduced and all do a lap Luminaria ceremony and light of candles HOPE sign lights up 1 member per team on the track at all times Entertainment, including live entertainment through-out the night to keep the teams on the go. Regular team captain meetings are held to motivate the teams and to ensure that all teams know and understand how the Relay works. Please let me know if you would like me to address your team.
